Workshops in Sept (20th and 27th)

WORKSHOPS in September

We are arranging two workshops in the month of Sept. Both the workshops shall be conducted by Ambuja Cements and shall be held at their premises in Gurgaon.

The details of the workshop are as,

Concrete Mix Design
BY AMBUJA CEMENTS LTD.
20th September 2014

What is this workshop about?

The process of selecting suitable ingredients of concrete and determining their relative amounts with the objective of producing a concrete of the required strength, durability and workability, as economically as possible, is termed as the Concrete Mix Design. The proportioning of ingredient of concrete is governed by the required performance of concrete in 2 states, namely the plastic and the hardened states. If the plastic concrete is not workable, it cannot be properly placed and compacted. The property of workability, therefore, becomes of vital importance. Cement is several times costly than the aggregate, thus the aim is to produce as lean mix as possible. From technical point of view, rich mixes may lead to high shrinkage and cracking in the structural concrete, and to evolution of high heat of hydration in mass concrete which may cause cracking. There are other factors involved in relation to an ideal concrete mix design. Therefore, it is necessary to have adequate knowledge about Concrete Mix Design and this workshop is all about that.

Topics Covered

This workshop is split into 2 modules:
·   Lecture:  Aggregates for Mortar & Concrete, Essential properties & requirements of concrete, Correct steps of Concrete Mix Design
·   Practical session: Manufacturing process of Cement, Trial of Concrete Mix Design.

Detail schedule of the workshop can be accessed from this link

Fee for the workshop is Rs. 350/- for CESSU members and Rs. 400/- for non-CESSU members

Self Compacting Concrete
BY AMBUJA CEMENTS LTD.
27th September 2014

What is this workshop about?

Self-compacting concrete (SCC) is a flowing concrete mixture that is able to consolidate under its own weight. The highly fluid nature of SCC makes it suitable for placing in difficult conditions and in sections with congested reinforcement. Use of SCC can also help minimize hearing-related damages on the site that are induced by vibration of concrete. Another advantage of SCC is that the time required to place large sections is considerably reduced.
This workshop is all about learning mixture proportions for SCC and how it is different from those of ordinary concrete.

Topics Covered

This workshop is split into 2 modules:
·   Lecture:  Self Compacting Concrete - Concept & Design.

·   Practical session: Trial of Self Compacting Concrete Mix Design

Detail schedule of the workshop can be accessed from this link

Fee for the workshop is Rs. 350/- for CESSU members and Rs. 400/- for non-CESSU members

For both the workshops certificate shall be awarded by the Ambuja Cement Foundations.

Since the seats are limited to 30 participants in each of the workshop, the registration shall be purely on the "first-cum-first" basis.
